Coaching Information

The following is some basic information to coach at Kalida and in the state of Ohio.  For more detailed information, contact Athletic Director Adam Huber.

Coaching Requirements

Thank you for your interest in helping coach at Kalida High School.  The state of Ohio and Kalida require all board approved coaches, paid or volunteer, to complete the coaching training requirements and obtain a Pupil Activity (Coaching) Permit (PAP) through the OHID CORE Dashboard.  Below is the information you will need to fulfill these requirements.  Please let Athletic Director Adam Huber know if you have any questions.

To coach in the state of Ohio, coaches are required to complete the following trainings:

1)  Fundamentals of Coaching Class

2)  CPR Training

3)  First Aid Course

4)  Concussion Training

5)  Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training

6)  Mental Health Training

 

You are then expected to complete a BCI and FBI background check, all before you actually apply for the PAP.  More information regarding the PAP can be found on the Ohio State Board of Education website found here: Ohio State Board of Education Pupil-Acitivity (Coaching) Permits

 

Kalida Local Schools utilizes a single, online program called the Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) to complete ALL required training.  You will be provided with a prepaid code to access the site.  

Follow these steps to complete your coaching requirements.

  • Check boxes for a to-do list.Access Coaches Tool Chest and login or create an account.

You can access CTC here:  Coaches Tool Chest Training (CTC).  

  • Check boxes for a to-do list.You will be given an access code to complete the Coaches Tool Chest Training Free of Charge.
    • Check boxes for a to-do list.Contact Mr. Huber to receive the code unless you have already been provided one.
  • Check boxes for a to-do list.Complete all the CTC training modules.
  • Check boxes for a to-do list.Once complete, send your certificate of completion from the CTC via email to Adam Huber.
  • Check boxes for a to-do list.Complete the BCI and FBI background check. 
    • (FBI every 5 years/BCI once if you live continuously in Ohio).  
    • Most people go to the Putnam County ESC.  
    • Please call before you go to make an appointment: 419-523-5951.
      • Check boxes for a to-do list.Contact Mr. Huber for a form you need to take to the ESC for fingerprinting.
    • GET YOUR FINGERPRINTS DONE BEFORE YOU APPLY!  Wait a few days for your prints to process before you apply for your license.

    • Since the school has your certificate, we know you are ok to be approved!
    • THIS WILL BE THE ONLY PART YOU PAY FOR – THIS IS AN IMPORTANT AND FINAL STEP TO GETTING CERTIFIED AND NEEDS DONE TO GET YOUR PERMIT!

 

FinalForms

In addition, you will receive an email from FinalForms asking for you to register.  If you do not receive the email, please check your spam folder or ask Adam Huber to send it to you again.  FinalForms is the program the school uses to sign and complete required documents as well as track your expiration dates for the following:

  1. FBI and BCI Fingerprints
  2. CTC Certification Expiration (Which will be June 30 every year)
  3. Pupil Activity Permit (PAP)
